  •     Trees have been cut down for metro construction which makes the situation worse.

Indiranagar is the most polluted residential area in Lucknow as per the ambient air quality assessment report of Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR).  It is has been found that the area constitute of PM10 (1,285 per cubic square), a particulate matter with diameter less than 10 micrometers.
Other areas which constitute of air pollution are Vikasnagar, Aliganj, and Aminabad with PM 10 levels of 1123, 1057.1 and 1061.1, respectively.
Vikasnagar recorded PM 2.5 concentration of 879.8 per cubic metre of air, making it the most polluted area in the city.

NEED FOR AIR PURIFIER IN LUCKNOW

An air purifier is a gadget which expels contaminants from the air to improve indoor air quality. Air purifiers are used indoor to remove the dust particles and other micro particles which cause harm to human health and other living organisms. Air purifiers are utilized in industry to expel polluting substances from air before transforming. One of the most common question that is asked frequently is that do air purifiers really work? Yes, the air purifiers are able to eliminate a high percentage of allergens and particles from air. However if you clean your surfaces and floors, an air purifier can have an enormous impact in wiping out the rest. The most recommended type of air purifier is HEPA air purifier which is able to trap and remove over 99.9% of the particles larger than 3 microns in size.

There is a continuous growth of air pollution in Lucknow. As per the WHO global air database, Lucknow ranks 7 th in the most polluted cities in the world in terms of PM2.5 concentration levels recorded in 2016. Lucknow is third among the four most polluted cities of UP. The air pollution is at hike during Diwali where large amount of air pollution is generated through burning fire crackers causing severe health issues to all the living organism.

Researchers found that the air inside your homes is up to 10 times more impure than the air outside which can cause serious health issues and breathing impure air at home is equivalent to drinking 40cigarettes a day. So to get rid of this problem it is necessary to install air purifiers at home to eliminate the allergens and other dust particles.

Brands like Austin Air and Airgle utilize a True HEPA air purifier encompassed by a layer of activated Carbon and zeolites. The HEPA expels airborne allergens, for example, dust, pollens, moulds, viruses, and microscopic organisms. The activated Carbon at that point disposes of synthetic substances and odor.

REASONS FOR INDOOR AIR POLLUTION

  • Dust- Triggers Respiratory System
  • Insecticide, Herbicides and Pesticides- Disrupt the endocrine system and causes cancer.
  • Household Cleaning chemicals, paints, and solvents- Trigger sick building syndrome such as headaches and throat irritation.
  • Synthetic fragrances, perfumes and deodorizers- capable of causing skin irritation, allergic reaction, cancer, birth defects, central nervous system disorders, and reproductive disorders.
  • Dry cleaned clothes- Contains trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene, which are highly toxic substances that are known to cause cancer.
  • Tobacco Smoke- Contains 200 known poisons and 43 carcinogens.
  •  Pet dander- Hairs and dried skins from animals can also be sources of respiratory irritants.
  •  Fumes from paraffin wax candles- candles made of paraffin wax release toxic chemicals that can quickly build up to unhealthy level in enclosed areas.
  • Radon gases from kitchen counter top, attic and basement- Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in America according to the US National Cancer Institute.

Benefits:
  •  Air Purifiers Remove Triggers for Asthma Attacks
  •  Air Purifiers Eliminate Allergens, Such As Dust and Pet Odor
  • Air Purifiers Trap Tobacco and Cigarette Smoke, Preventing Lung Disease
  •  Air Purifiers Eliminate Radon Gas, Which Can Cause Lung Cancer
  •  Air Purifiers Produce Clean Air Which Improves Mood Levels When Inhale

      AIR POLLUTION IN LUCKNOW

The human actions in recent times have changed global condition. The discharge from cars, industrial pollutants, infrastructure development, agricultural practices etc has raised the degrees of the harmful substances and gases like CO2, CO, SO2, NO and Particulate Matter(PM) in the air which is drastically changing the atmospheric condition and is very harmful for every living being .

Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh is the largest city in northern region with over 2.82 million population (As per Lucknow City Census 2011). Pollution is the introduction of contaminants in to the environment that adversely affects the human health and Lucknow is no exception of this case.
  • Air quality of Lucknow according to analysis of last nine years air quality data shows a more or less stable trend for SO2 and a declining trend for NO2, both lying within the NAAQS. For PM10 increasing trend is seen which exceeds NAAQS. (As per CPCB, 2012 report).
  •  As per report of WHO, 2014 the annual concentration of PM10 was 219ug/m3.
  •  As per December, 2015 AQI of Lucknow was 489. The AQI between 401 and 500 is the severe call for the human health hazard.

Studies conducted by researchers revealed that ambient air pollution concentration are very high which causes serious problems to every living being. Analysts from the city have contemplated different aspects of air pollution of which the particulate matter is the main air pollutant in the city.

Air Pollution is the most common factor which affects the human health at a large extent. In 2018 the 7 of the 10 top most polluted cities were in India, including Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Bhiwandi, Patna, and Lucknow. Lucknow is third among the four most polluted cities of UP. Lucknow is just five units behind Delhi, which has been ranked sixth, with the pollution levels of 138 micrograms per cubic metre of air.

To check the quality of air in Lucknow, artificial lungs were installed in Lalbagh which turned black within 24 hrs. For this purpose HEPA filters were used.

"This shows the air quality here. It took six days for the lungs to turn black in Delhi, 18 days in Bangalore," said Ekta Shekhar, who is director of Climate Agenda, the organization which installed the artificial lungs.
